NTN-SNR tells us more about TVD / Pulley Dampers
The Pulley Damper guides the accessories belt and is fitted on the timing side end of the engine crankshaft. The main purpose of a pulley damper is to act as a shock absorber, in particular, reducing vibrations and engine noise.
Most diesel engines are fitted with a pulley damper and a large amount of petrol engines. NTN-SNR advise that the pulley damper is changed at the same time as a timing belt and roller change.
